Pack 143 Pinewood Glow Derby

This year’s Pinewood Derby will be Blacklight glow in the dark themed

Specifications for Cars

Inspection & Impound

  • Vehicles will be inspected during District registration for compliance to all specifications. Cars that advance to the Council race will be inspected by a team of Council officials once all District races are completed. Cars damaged during racing and repaired must pass Monmouth Council Pinewood Committee inspection. If a vehicle fails inspection, the owner will be told the reason for failure, and will be given time within the official registration period to make adjustments. Cars failing inspection may be raced but are ineligible for awards.

  • Vehicles will be impounded after qualifying District races. After being impounded, repairs will be limited to the replacement of axles/wheels that are broken/lost during the race. After impound, only race officials will handle vehicles. Repairs are performed by the Scouts pit crew. Please lubricate cars BEFORE impound. There will be no application of graphite at the council races. It is too messy and has become a time consuming process in years past. Raceday is for racing. Have racers complete the graphite process at the end of district racing.

Potluck

Hey Everyone!

So on December 15th at 6:30pm we will be having Pack 143's holiday potluck at the Wanamassa Elementary School. I've attached a link below to a Google doc for a sign-up sheet so feel free to add your name and what you would like to bring if you plan on attending. All family members are invited so bring everyone! If you're wondering, we typically expect 40-50 people. I'd recommend bringing enough of your dish for 10 people so there is enough to go around.

If you plan on bringing something hot please have it warmed and ready to go since we will most likely eat before any activities. We will have limited access to electrical outlets so please try to avoid anything that needs to be plugged in. If you do need to plug something in, bring an extension cord and power strip to help make things a bit easier. There will also be coolers with ice available if needed.

We plan on having some fun holiday activities for the kids as well as some fun Scout games for any age group.

In the spirit of Scouting, and our love of conservation, it is perfectly acceptable to bring reusable water bottles for drinks, reusable utensils, plates, etc. to help reduce our impact if you happen to have them. Why not break out that camp cookware one more time before winter. The pack will be providing paper products and utensils from the camp trailer if needed, but if you happen to have some spare napkins, paper plates, cups, etc. to donate to the pack it would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions or need anything at all, please feel free to reach out to us here via email, or call/text John Kotlowski the Assistant Cubmaster at 848-333-1914.

Winter Wonderland Event

Winter Wonderland Event

I just wanted to let everyone know that the Wanamassa Elementary School will be having their first Winter Wonderland Market on December 11th with all kinds of vendors and photos with Santa. This will be a fun opportunity for the kids/parents to purchase holiday gifts for friends and family from locally owned vendors, get their hands on some home baked goods, and enjoy some winter themed activities with the community.

The pack was given a table to help recrute kids interested in scouting and we need your help!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We will have a 10x10 foot area with a table reserved for us and we need some charismatic volunteers to help be the face of the pack. We need 2-4 leaders/adults (preferably ones with a uniform) who are willing to help run the table and talk with anyone interested in more information about scouting.

The event will be from 11-4pm. We don't expect anyone to be there for the entire time unless they can be. If you can only come for an hour or so, that would be greatly appreciated.

Please email us here if you can help out or call/text John Kotlowski (Assistant Cubmaster) at 848-333-1914.

Any and all scout families are encouraged to come! Extra credit if you come in uniform.
